Net Zero Carbon Pledge and initiative
The Net Zero Carbon Pledge and Net Zero Carbon Initiative both refer to commitments and efforts by organizations, governments, or entities to reduce their carbon emissions to net zero.
- Net Zero Carbon Pledge: a formal commitment by an organization or country to balance the amount of carbon dioxide emitted with the amount removed from the atmosphere, typically by 2050 or another target year. The pledge involves reducing emissions as much as possible and offsetting any remaining emissions through carbon capture, reforestation, or other means.
- Net Zero Carbon Initiative: a program or set of actions aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions. It includes strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and investing in technologies or projects that offset or remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The initiative often involves setting interim targets, tracking progress, and reporting on outcomes.
