Form, Fit, and Function
Form, fit, and function (FFF) refer to the three primary aspects of a product’s design and functionality:
- Form: the physical appearance and shape of the product. It includes elements such as size, color, texture, and overall aesthetics.
- Fit: how well the product integrates or fits into its intended environment or context. It encompasses factors like compatibility, ease of installation, and alignment with user needs or expectations.
- Function: how effectively the product fulfills its intended function or task. It involves features, performance, and reliability.
In the context of sustainability, optimizing FFF can contribute significantly to environmentally responsible design and consumption practices; through resource efficiency, longevity and durability, energy efficiency, and circular economy principles.
