Eco-anxiety
Eco-anxiety is described as a chronic and pervasive sense of fear and apprehension regarding the environmental challenges facing our planet and the life it sustains, impacting mental well-being. Many surveys and research studies about eco-anxiety have been carried out in recent years. They have shown that it disproportionately impacts children and young people.
Eco-anxiety also exists under similar terms; such as climate anxiety, solastalgia, and ecological grief, which encompass a range of emotional responses beyond just anxiety. The commonly reported emotions experienced by those affected by eco-anxiety include fear, anguish, helplessness, sadness, and guilt. However, eco-anxious people might also tend towards pro-environmental behaviors as a way to address environmental issues.
